Sydney Mines' heritage museum occupies the town's historic train station building (c. 1905), next door to the Cape Breton Fossil Centre: objects donated by the local community tell the town's story, from coal miners' tools to the jersey of local marathon legend Johnny Miles. Museum admission is included with Fossil Centre tickets.
