The longest clear-span cantilever bridge in the world — 548.6 metres between its main piers — completed in 1917 after the collapse of an earlier span in 1907 cost 76 lives. The first major bridge to use the K-truss and nickel steel, built principally by Canadians, it still carries trains over the St. Lawrence between Québec City and Lévis and is a National Historic Site (designated 1995).
