Capreol was created by the railway, and its museum fills two buildings on Bloor Street: a 1916 museum house with lumber, mining and railroading exhibits, and the former municipal building — once home to the fire and police departments — now a heritage centre with a model railroad, a locomotive simulator and the town's original jail.
